The Australia Cavy Sanctuary is run by a team of dedicated individuals who have spent many years passionately studying and caring for guinea pigs. Our founder has kept guinea pigs since early childhood and over the years has witnessed and experienced a wide range of issues which face these little guys not only in today's society but have for many years now. Articles in this section of the website are based on genuine real life experiences and we hope that the information provided here will only open the eyes of many. We are also passionate about other animal welfare related issues happening in society today and we've compiled information and articles we are in full support of and that we feel others may benefit from reading. If you feel you can contribute to this section of the website by offering an article or resource to be displayed here please feel free to contact ACS as we are always looking for further resources. Why can't breeders breed and rescue? CLICK HERE to read an informative message board thread started by ACS Founder Jessica on an overseas rescue based guinea pig forum ' cavy cages '. Guinea pigs in many Pet Shops
Stress on small lives What can transportation, noise and handling do to a guinea pig's psychological and physical state? Click here to read an essay written by Niomie O'Connor which scientifically and logically supports why guinea pigs should not be shown or transported often. NO to breeding....why? ACS could write endless articles on our experiences with some breeders. we do realize that without animals breeding in the world then naturally a species would become extinct and we are in support of breeding for conservation or other responsible reason. We have written a section dedicated to our experiences with the breeding world of guinea pigs and why we are not in support of this. ( coming soon ). |
