ACS
Brisbane Shelter Manager ' Jessica ' and guinea pig inspired artwork does
well at art show...
An art major in
highschool and having also participated at a couple of QUT art related
groups, entering art competitions and exhibitions until late highschool,
sadly life as busy as it is, my art passion seemed to be sitting on the
fence the past few years. I recently realised that this was a passion that
shouldn't be discarded so I took initiative and have begun painting once
again my all time favoutite subjects of course...Guinea Pigs.
I am pretty much self
taught, definitely
still learning and definitely wouldn't call myself any picasso, with only
highschool as my background although I'm currently regularly attending an
art class/group. Acrylics are my medium of choice for painting. I also
have held a keen interest in animal/portrait photography for many years
and hope to start pursuing the photography again
as well.
I recently entered a couple
of artworks
in the S amford
Agricultur al
Show in the ar t
and cr afts
exhibition held at the
agricultural event. All
artworks were judged by artists and
RNA judges and to my surprise one of my acrylic paintings titled ' take
time to stop and smell the roses ' was awarded first prize in it's
section. Another exhibition I recently entered although not judged was the
fellowship art exhibition at the riverside centre.
Their are many subjects
that one could paint and be inspired by but somehow every time a blank
canvas is in front of me what ends up being painted always tends to be '
guinea pig ' inspired...
I'm hoping to very soon
offer a service so that others can send in photos and have portraits of
their guinea pigs painted for them. I've just begun a series of paintings
based on guinea pig awareness and I hope to create several paintings in
relation to the subject over the next couple of months.
