Competition Entry Criteria and Rules

- Chefs can be of any age. Any children under the age of 10 are allowed to have parental help/assistance with their dish.

- Your dish must be created entirely by you.

- You must live in Australia.

- You may enter as many dishes as you like into the competition.

- You must use RAW fresh foods only. The foods must be safe for guinea pigs to eat. Please see our raw fresh food list to find examples of foods that could be used in your dish.

- You may use cutters, blenders and other electronic and non electronic cooking utensils although please note that if you are chosen for the final round of the competition that their will be no electrical appliances available to use on the day. On the day only very basic safe cutters and knives will be supplied for safety reasons.

- If your dish is chosen to be in the final 10, you must be able to attend the Australian Cavy Sanctuary major event the ‘Pignic in the park’ on October 25th 2009 to compete in the final rounds. The Pignic is held in Brisbane QLD at Teralba Park, Mitchelton. Winner of the Cavy Cookout will be announced on the day of the event.

- Their will be a separate small prize for the best dish entered into the competition 'online' so if you live interstate and are unable to participate in the final rounds you may enter the online competition separately.

Judging Criteria

Dishes will be judged on the following:
- Most creative
- Presentation on the plate
- Most appetizing
- Age appropriateness

Prize

The winner of the Cavy Chef Challenge will win their guinea pigs and themselves quite a treat of a package! Prize includes a guinea pig shaped cutting board, Vegetable Book which will give you loads of ideas and information on how to grow your very own veggie garden. The book is a simple and practical guide for all ages, a stuffed guinea pig chef toy and the  winner will also receive $30 cash to spent at the ACS Stall on the day of the 'PIGNIC IN THE PARK' event. Other prizes still to come and will be announced to the winner on the day of the event!
