Become a shelter of the ACS The sanctuary hopes to expand with rescue branches spread not only throughout Queensland but throughout Australia. If you are interested in becoming a shelter whether small scale or large scale, and a representative working with us and you feel you could provide ongoing care and accomodation and a safe haven for guinea pigs in need please feel free to contact your nearest ACS Shelter for further information. We look forward to discussing all aspects of opening your own shelter with you. As a starting point for all those interested the ACS has written a document on the basic requirements needed for starting a shelter as a representative of the ACS. ACS
require the help of foster carers from time to time. Their are many
reasons we may need to call on the support of a foster carer, most which
are outlined in outlined in our foster care application form. If you wish
to offer your time to foster care for a piggy in need of a temporary home
please fill in our foster care Application Form below and email it to the
sanctuary: fizzygirl28@hotmail.com. If your application is accepted we
will then send you our Foster Carer Agreement form/contract to be read and
agreed to and then signed. From here you are then able to foster care for
any guinea pigs that may become available throughout the year. ACS will
keep your forms on record and will contact you if a guinea pig/s become
available for foster care meeting your foster care criteria.
Cavy Cuddler Many guinea pigs that enter the ACS shelters have come from situations of mistreatment, neglect, rough handling or no handling. These guinea pigs have little trust in people. A Cavy cuddler volunteers casual shifts to spend time gently handling and socialising guinea pigs at the shelter, in turn this will give these guinea pigs a better chance of finding a permanent home.
Event and Display Teams Throughout the year the ACS hold many awareness/educational displays along with hosting several of our own events. With a dedicated team of volunteers we are able to get active and get our message out there. In the past it's been a pleasure working with friendly and passionate like-minded volunteers at displays and events.
Helping at the Shelters We are always very busy with simple day to day duties and care involved in the general running, presentation and cleanliness of our shelters. Casual volunteer jobs are always available in this area and include the cleaning of the enclosures, changing bedding, filling/cleaning water bottles and feed bowls, Guinea pig bathing and nail trimming.
Volunteer Fundraising Co-ordinator / Editor ACS
are always looking for volunteers that have good typing/publishing skills,
good communication skills, have creative design and computer graphics
skills and that are outgoing and think outside the square to help in the
organising and promotion of ACS fundraisers and publicity. If you feel you
have skills in this area that could be benefitial to ACS please contact
us. (c) Copyright 2006, Australian Cavy Sanctuary. All rights reserved. |
