Cubes/Grids
Grids come in a pack and are usually used to make boxes for storage/laundry. You will find grids in the "storage/container/laundry '' section of a store. Below is a list of stores that regularly sell grids. It is best to ring first to check that they are in stock as some stores do not stock grids any longer. Other places to look for grids include lifeline and salvo stores, bargain stores and Ebay.

Big W -
Big W sell packs of 16 grids with 16 connectors for $14.78. This would make two large cages or one extra large cage and some ramps. There are four grid colours in the pack and they are green/blue/yellow/red.

Please note that most Big W stores in Queensland no longer stock these grids.

Bunnings Warehouse - " Ibex Cubes " Bunning's stores sell 5 white grids in a pack for $8.50.

Kmart - Kmart sell packs of 26 grids for $49.00. The colour of the grids in these packs are a silver/grey. The quality of the Kmart grids is exceptional and the silver look is quite modern and stylish.

ALDI - ALDI Stores sometimes have black grids available for $20 for a pack of 16 grids.

Cable Ties

With your grids you will receive connectors although you will also need to purchase CABLE TIES to add extra strength to the sides of your cage. Cable ties range from approximately $2.00-$6.00 for large packs of 100-300 and can be purchased from bargain stores, eBay, food stores and at hardware stores. Cable ties come in many colours and sizes They are handy if you would like to attach ramps or hay racks to your cage.

Side Barriers and Base
The side barriers and base of your cage can be made from " CORFLUTE ". Corflute is an inexpensive waterproof plastic. Real estate signs and promotional signs are made from Corflute. Corflute comes in different thicknesses. For your cage you need to look for 3mm, 3.5mm or 5mm thickness as you need to be able to bend the corflute easily. Corflute can be bought from most sign stores. Some companies which specialize in plastics also have corflute sheets available. In Brisbane QLD there is a wholesale store called " Brisbane Flute Supplies " located in the suburb of Salisbury. Brisbane Flute Suppliers home deliver for $15. For a large sheet of corflute measuring  1.8m x 1.2m you will be charged between $5 -$7. Larger or smaller sizes are available and corflute also comes in a range of colours.

The sides of your cage can also be made with other things if you are unable to find corflute in your area. Plastic Tarps can be bought and pinned or clipped to the grids. Lino is also another option. Photo at left is an example of a cage that has a plastic tarp for its base.

When using corflute to make the sides and base of your cage you will either need some sort of thick tape or further cable ties to join your side walls of your base together. 6 inches high is the ideal height for side barriers of your base as this will ensure no bedding falls out from the cage. For further instructions on how to make the side barriers and base of your cage please refer to photos and information on our step-by-step  " tutorial " page.
