Recommended Cage Sizes

The beauty of the Connect-a-Grid Cage is  that the cage can be made to a comfy spacious size for your guinea pig/s and that the cage can be expanded and altered when adding new additions to your piggy family or when wanting a bit of a change in design.

- Minimum cage size for 2 young guinea pigs should be no less than 2 grids x 3 grids with 2 grids x 4 grids for adult guinea pigs or larger being ideal.

- Minimum cage size for 3 or 4 guinea pigs should be no less than 2 grids x 5 grids with 2 grids x 6 grids or larger being ideal.

- Other grid combinations can be used when building the cage to fit into a certain space such as 3 grids x 3 grids or in circumstances when space may be an issue even a 1 grid x 5 grid cage for two guinea pigs can suffice. One may wish to make a right angle shaped cage by making a 3 grid x 2 grid cage plus a 1 grid by 2 grid extension off one side for example. The choices for cage design are endless!

Grids are bought by guinea pig owners that realize their guinea pigs need more space than the common misconception of small cage space required which is fed to the public by the pet shops in particular who sell and recommend tiny store cages more than usual under a meter in size. Make the most of your grids and give your piggies a home where they can play and run around in and where they can drink and eat without having to sleep in the same area as their food. Give them the home that they deserve:)
