Stuart Little's Story

Stuart Little was rescued in mid 2007 from a well known pet shop. This petshop has been known to sell unwell guinea pigs and several had been rescued from the shop in the past by ACS volunteers. Stuart Little was rescued by a member of the public and he was then surrendered to ACS Brisbane Shelter. Stuart would've only been 1-2 weeks old and was found skinny, bloated, with mange infestation ( hair loss ), a fungal infection on his nose and he would hop with his back legs instead of walking normally as he was suffering from vitamin c deficiency. Sadly upon inspecting the store we found another young guinea pig also suffering from mange. The fact these guinea pigs were offered for sale to the public was appalling but not surprising. If unwell guinea pigs are sold to a pet shop it is their repsonsibility to treat them until well enough to sell to the public or to forward them on to a shelter or vet who can do so.

After two months of treatment Stuart Little fully recovered from his condition/s and became a very beautiful very special guinea pig. Now days Stuart little loves being handled and loves people and has overcome his past.
