Mr Biggles - A case of neglect

Mr Biggles was finally given a name by ACS Brisbane Shelter after he was surrendered to us coming from a background where quite simply he wasn't loved. Mr Biggles was rescued by a family who noticed that the neighbours over the fence had been neglecting their guinea pig. Mr Biggles was not given attention and was not fed appropriately so the kind family took him onboard although were unable to keep him so in Mr Biggles best interest he was then surrendered to ACS by his rescue family.

Mr Biggles arrived at ACS Brisbane Shelter with an empty soul. His eyes told his entire history that was just very sad. Mr Biggles came to the shelter in a tiny old fashioned guinea pig hutch which we describe as a jail cell. The particular cage that Biggles arrived in was a design once used and sold around 15 years ago as an appropriate enclosure for guinea pigs. With thick harsh metal bars on the base, no shelter, no protection from predators and very small in size...it is by looking at an enclosure like this that one can really appreciate just how far correct care for guinea pigs has grown over the years.

Mr Biggles was filthy on arrival to the shelter. He needed a good bath and he also had hairloss from minor mange mite infestation. Mr Biggles was given a fresh bath at the shelter and was immediately removed from his cage. Within only a few days Mr Biggles began to look like a new guinea pig. Mr Biggles is currently still at the shelter and is slowly finding his spirit and he is very lucky that he already has a wonderful family and future lined up for him when he is ready for adoption. We thank the family that took Mr Biggles from his previous home (with permission from the owners)...you have given him a chance of a wonderful new life.
