ACS Boarding Service

 

All ACS Shelters offer a boarding service for guinea pigs and some of our shelters also offer boarding for rabbits, mice or rats while their families are away. (Please contact your local ACS Shelter to find out if the option for boarding other small pets is available). We realise that boarding for small animals can be difficult to find or that it can be difficult to find someone you feel comfortable leaving your pets with. We offer this service for the comfort of knowing that your guinea pigs will be safe and happy while you are away.

We ask that if you would like to board with us that you phone to place a booking at least 2 weeks prior to when you will be going away. Sometimes ACS shelters can be fully booked particularly around Christmas time. We strongly suggest that if you require boarding around the months of October/November/December or January that you book early as bookings fill quickly around this holiday time of the year.

How will my pets be housed while I am away?

All ACS shelters offer both indoor or outdoor housing for your guinea pigs alongside a 'bring your own cage' option. The shelters will give your guinea pigs adequate playtime on the lawn if you request they have lawn time.

ACS Shelters offer a range of cooling/heating methods for your guinea pigs as needed. Each shelter will supply either air conditioning or fans in summer along with the use of frozen water bottles and cool water fruits/veg as needed. In winter the shelters use heating methods as needed including heat packs/extra hay and fleecy bedding among other methods in winter. Several of the ACS shelters have indoor boarding areas which are themed and decorated creating a comfortable, safe and stress free environment for your guinea pigs.

ACS Guinea Pig Pamper Package: All ACS Shelters are able to offer your guinea pigs a pamper package while they stay with us.

With this service we offer:

- Bathing ( $4 per guinea pig ). With the bathing service we use only the best quality natural and safe shampoos which will enhance your guinea pigs coat and it's condition. Your guinea pig will be bathed, dried, groomed ( brushed/combed ).

- Nail Clipping ( $2 per guinea pig )

- Parasite/Worming Treatment and Mite Wash ($7 per guinea pig): Your guinea pig will be bathed in a gentle external parasite wash suitable and safe for guinea pigs. Your guinea pig will then be dried and given playtime on the lawn. The product 'Revolution' will then be applied to your guinea pig. Revolution will immediately prevent and kill any unwanted external or internal parasites. Revolution will also worm your guinea pig.

- Complete Pamper Package ( $10.00 per guinea pig ) Includes all of the packages mentioned above.

(Please note that prices may differ from above with each ACS Shelter. It is difficult to keep this space up to date so please ask your local shelter what their shelter's prices are prior to booking in any of our salon packages).

Boarding fees:  Our low boarding fees cover the costs of fresh bedding, veggies and feed for your guinea pig/s while in our care. It also includes beds, bedding and cage decor provided for your guinea pig.

Diet: Our standard ACS daily diet for guinea pigs consists of fresh water, fresh hay/grass, quality ACS gourmet guinea pig chaff mix and an appropriate amount of high vitamin C vegetables. If your guinea pigs have a specific diet or bedding that they are used to we will comply with this. Clean appropriate bedding is changed as required. ACS also have lawn pens which can be used for play time if requested.

PLEASE NOTE THAT BOARDING FEES VARY BETWEEN ACS SHELTERS. BELOW ARE THE FEES THAT SOME ACS SHELTERS CHARGE. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NEAREST SHELTER TO ASK ABOUT THEIR BOARDING OPTIONS AND FEES.

 

$3.50 a day deal - Per two/three guinea pigs. For every extra guinea pig boarding add $1 extra per day per guinea pig. You provide your own enclosure/housing and accessories for your guinea pigs. Indoor or Outdoor housing is fine. All feed and bedding supplied by ACS.

$5.50 a day deal - Per two/three guinea pigs housed in one ACS suite/enclosure. $1 extra a day per extra guinea pig if for more than three guinea pigs are staying in one ACS suite. Important: The daily deal above applies per ACS enclosure (e.g. If you require the use of two ACS enclosures the daily boarding fee for up to three guinea pigs would be $11 a day).  All ACS boarding suites/enclosures are of large sizes and are located indoors with 1.5m in length being the average length. With this package ACS will provide all accessories, decor, beds, feed and bedding as needed.

Boarding Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times

Boarding Drop-off and Pick-up times will need to be made on days that the specific shelter you are boarding with is open for general appointments. Please see the CONTACT US page on the website to view what day/s and time/s each ACS Shelter is open.

NOTE - ACS Shelters are closed for any visits to the shelters including Boarding on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you need to board your guinea pigs with us over the Christmas period please contact the ACS Shelter you are boarding your guinea pigs with to work out a suitable time and day to board your guinea pigs.

How and When to Pay?

When your pets are dropped off for boarding you can either make payment for their stay in full or pay half upon dropping off your pets and then half on return from your time away. A minimum of half payment is required upon drop off.

ACS accept payments in cash, by money order or cheque or if you'd like to pay in advance ACS also has an online paypal account. Sorry we don't currently accept Eftpos.

Any extra proceeds from boarding fees are donated directly to ACS and the guinea pigs in our care.
