Interstate shipping available throughout Australia and Tasmania.
We have flown many guinea pigs interstate with complete success. We do not
charge extra for handling. We just do what we can to find
the best homes for our adoptable guinea pigs and if that special new
family is in another state then we do what we can to make sure you and
your new guinea pig are united! We stay in close communication
through the process of organising flights.
Basic
Information and Cost
We ship via Australian Air Express.
Below is a brief description
of the basic costs involved in shipping guinea pigs interstate.
Transport cage cost: $10.00 ( Cages made lightweight by ACS. 1 cage
can carry three guinea pigs )
Basic weight cost/shipping fee: The weight cost is calculated
by the cubic size or weight of the carrier with the guinea pigs inside.
The shipping fee depends on the airport the guinea pigs are flying to and
is generally higher the longer the flight distance between states. This varies within each state as a rough idea
of cost below is a standard estimate for flying your guinea pigs to
particular states:
Brisbane to Perth Airport: $200- $230 Brisbane to
Melbourne/Sydney or Townsville Airport: $90 - $114
To ship 2 guinea pigs to a
nearby state all up it would usually cost approximately $150 with all
costs as described above applied.
Order of Arrangements
Before we confirm any interstate adoption we work out cost
via email with a potential adoption. Simply email us the airport you would
like a shipping cost estimate made for and we will email you
approximate costs after phoning Australian air express to confirm them.
- From here if you decide to
adopt a guinea pig/s and we have spoken and agreed on the guinea pigs you
wish to adopt we then ask you to send us an email stating at least two
dates and the time of day that you would like us to try to book a flight
for. We then work from our end and book a flight for you and email you the
details of the flight. You then email us back with confirmation for us to
go ahead with the next step.
- We will send you a total cost for your guinea pig/s, transport cage/s
and flight costs.
- We will also send payment details in this email. From here you send us a
confirmation email to let us know you have made payment. All payments are
to be made before day of departure.
- Finally we then send an email letting you know your payment has been
received along with a second email confirming the departure day and flight
details for your guinea pig.
- If no further alterations are made by the adopter at this time then
flight goes ahead as planned.
After your guinea pig has
departed we email you to let you know your guinea pig/s are on their way
along with a copy of the shipping cost receipt we attain at the airport on
day of departure
Transport Cage Information
Our transport cages are
airline approved and are lightweight to reduce shipping weight fees.
They can be re-used as storage containers for feed etc after the flight.
Cages are created from lightweight heavy duty 60Litre plastic containers.
Each container comes with secure handles and wheels and a secure lid.
Round air holes are neatly drilled around all sides and into the lid for
good air circulation. Inside the cage is lined with a thin layer of
newspaper and a layer of Hysorb wood-shavings bedding. Hay or Grass,
vegetables, and grain in small amounts is supplied for the journey.
Adoption paper/s are placed in a waterproof plastic sleeve and securely
taped to the lid or base of your cage.
At the airport the cage strapped securely with strong packing tape for the
trip.
