OUR ADOPTION PROCESS As a potential adoption family you may find that our adoption process is a little out of the norm from what you would expect when purchasing a guinea pig elsewhere. Their is a little more involved regarding the adoption process through ACS and this is entirely for the benefit of both you and your guinea pigs. We make sure that you receive correct care information needed to ensure a happy healthy life for your guinea pigs and our adoption process also helps us to help you find the guinea pigs that are best suited to your family. We offer free ongoing advice as needed and are always happy to answer any questions you may want to ask about guinea pigs and their care. ACS receive 1000's of guinea pigs into our care each year and all carry their own story and personality. A large percentage of the guinea pigs we receive into our shelters often have come from pasts whereby they did not have love and good care or where they may have been over bred or simply not seen/treated as part of the family. Our passion for these little guys ensures that their welfare always comes first and it is our daily job to make sure that each and every one of our animals receive the future that they deserve. We appreciate those that take the time to go through our adoption process and that understand why our process is in place. We have seen 100's of happy new adoptive families and happy guinea pigs find homes as a result. We thank those that choose to opt to adopt! Every person that adopts helps to make a difference. |
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE MAKING AN ENQUIRY. NOTE - We are a sanctuary not a pet shop or breeder. Our adoption process is in place so that we can ensure both you and your new guinea pigs will live happily for a long time together and so that when you adopt you are equipped with all the knowledge you need to cater for your guinea pigs correctly. Every guinea pig that enters an ACS shelter is technically homeless hence why we use the term 'adopt' not 'buy' as we do not breed nor do we sell guinea pigs for profit or any other means.
We have an adoption process in place to ensure that every homeless guinea pig that enters an ACS Shelter will find a loving permanent home where they will be valued and nurtured as part of the whole family. If you feel you can give an ACS guinea pig a special place in your family we look forward to discussing adoption with you.

We are happy to discuss any part of our adoption agreement form on request and are happy to help and advise where we can with the planning for your new family member/s. All guinea pigs for adoption have an adoption fee of $20.00. This covers their health check, mite treatment and the fee itself is technically deemed as a donation whereby anything extra goes directly to the other guinea pigs in our care . All guinea pigs come with a signed adoption certificate and agreement and have been mite treated/wormed/health checked. At our shelters care leaflets are available to take home PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE IF YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT AND HAVE READ THE ABOVE ADOPTION AGREEMENT FORM. OUR ONLINE ADOPTION ENQUIRY FORM IS STANDARD PROCEDURE TO BE SENT THROUGH BEFORE VISITS TO OUR SHELTERS TO ADOPT CAN PROCEED. Any personal information sent through on this form will remain entirely confidential and will only be viewed by the ACS Shelter Manager the form is sent to. When sending through the adoption enquiry form we recommend answering each question in as much detail as you can. This will quicken the adoption process so that when we respond to your form we do not have to ask further questions if a question is answered in little detail. ACS can have any of our adoptable guinea pigs de-sexed for a fee. If you find you are interested two guinea pigs that are different sexes please feel free to email or phone your nearest ACS shelter about this option and any costs involved.
